Amid dipping positivity rates in Uttar Pradesh, the government has decided to further relax restrictions which were imposed when the second wave of Covid-19 hit the state.

As per new guidelines by the UP Health department, gymnasiums in UP will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Thermal scanning, Aarogya Setu app status, sanitization, use of face masks inside the gym, except when exercising, have been made mandatory.

As the yoga institutes and gymnasiums have been now after so long, the gym owners and fitness experts have shown joy and happiness on the government’s fresh guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Nagesh Raj, Founder of My Olympia, said: “I would like to thank the government as Gyms and yoga institutes have been allowed to reopen.”

“It is our duty to maintain safety precautions, We are taking measures to ensure safety and it is good that people are coming back to gyms. Time slots are given to the customers for hassle-free and safer exercise. In our gym, we are allowing only 10 members per hour. The business is very low, but better than shutting down as done during the lockdown period,” he said.

Nagesh raj further says, “Vaccination is the key to defeating Covid-19. We have advised all the members, staff associated with us to get themselves vaccinated.”

“Also, to promote vaccination among members, we have advised them to offer discounts to those who have received at least the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19. We are happy to welcome our members back to the gyms.

He further requested the government to not to close gyms in the future if the need arises and instead provide guidelines and precautionary measures that could be followed while keeping the gyms running.

“Exercise helps in strengthening the immunity system. I want to request the government to not completely close the gyms in the future and instead give us guidelines and we’ll follow it with proper precautions in place. This way our business will be secured and the clients won’t get demotivated, “added Nagesh. He said- Compared to the first wave, the second has completely shattered the industry but we are hoping for the best and wishing that the pandemic ends soon.
